I just got back from the surgeon's appointment. I had x-rays of both hips and I am amazed at what I saw. There is very little evidence now that I ever had legg perthes disease. My left hip now looks almost identical in structure as my right hip. The drastic change in structure also explains the amount of pain I have been going through since surgery.
The healing is on course with where I should be at. The surgeon is asking me to use crutches for 2 more weeks to allow the joint to heal bit more. Then I will be walking on my own again, I will never need the use of a walker to heal.
My appointment November 5th to start physiotherapy is right on track with the surgeon's time line for me. There was no benefit to trying to return to Belleville today to start physiotherapy next week like I had originally lined up because the joint isn't quite ready yet. The surgeon told me physiotherapy is going to be harsh from how much my hip was changed.
Then I will be back up to Ottawa around mid January to review my hip and to ask questions I will have.
I am happy. To think I will be walking in a few weeks is going to be wonderful.
