When I was three years old I had Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease in my left hip. My left hip was rebuilt when I was five. After two years of sporadic pain and difficulties walking my left hip failed on October 14th 2006. This is my blog of the journey I am going through to re-gain my health and again establish a normal, stable and healthy adult life.

You may subscribe to my blogs RSS Feed RSS Feed. If you had Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease as a child or your child now has this disease you may benefit from the support group I co-moderate.

Before going to bed

It has been a very frustrating day. The pain in my right hip has been pretty intense since the middle of the night.

I finally got the pain stopped a few minutes ago by loading up on pain medication. I will be having a frank conversation with my surgeon on Friday about my right hip. The pain in it (apart from using the pills) is more severe than before I was operated on.

Early afternoon my family doctor called to check on me. It was nice talking to him for a minute. He is concerned over what is happening.

I talked to TeleHealth Ontario in the night when my right hip became painful. I was thinking about using ice to help ease the pain. The registered nurse with the province of Ontario I spoke with discouraged me from doing so. She was concerned that applying ice would hinder the healing process within my hips.
