Pre Surgery Screening For My Right Knee Is Booked
[ Monday March 30th 2026 at 2:11 pm ]
Pre surgery screening called about an hour ago. My appointment is on April 10th 2026.
There is about an hour long appointment with a nurse:
- We need to talk about what medications I am presently using
- The treatment for my diarrhea that the colonoscopy identified
- All the usual questions about my height, body weight and living arrangements
- My blood pressure
- usual preparation for surgery with a special soap so my knee is less likely to get infected
Then I will have an appointment with an anesthetist:
- They wants to talk to me about pain management
- They want to understand why I had the more risky method of sedating me for surgery in 2025 and if I am open to the typical style this time around.
- They want to talk to me about my heart / blood pressure.
Then there are the usual tests:
- Blood work to check that I am healthy to have surgery
- X-ay
- ECG to check how my heart is beating
Everything is routine. None of this is anything to be worried about. If it was I would tell you. They like to talk to the actual patient to understand what was previously done, how it worked and any thoughts I have to offer. They don't just go by notes on the patient chart.
