Walking With The Mobility Team
[ Monday April 27th 2026 at 6:17 pm ]

A mobility team member stopped at my hospital room and asked ifI wanted to go for a walk. I just did my final big walk for today.

For context: Several short walks of 20 to 30 feet are the norm for this stage of healing from a knee being replaced. But for me I need to build up my endurance in case my microscopic colitis flares up and I need to make several trips to the toilet. It is more daunting. But this is the process I signed up for.

This morning with the physiotherapist I walked a distance of 60 feet with 3 breaks. Just now I walked 80 feet with 3 breaks.

The next component is pain control. As I increase the distance is my pain control in sync with my walking. I don't have fear about this. Thursday looks promising to head home.

May 15th will be an incision check with my family doctor. Then presuming this is satisfactory the warm water therapy pool exercises will begin.
