A Suggestion For Inpatients Using Non Transitional Spaces While Hospitalized

I have sent the following suggestion to Kingston General Hospital after being an inpatient from April 24th to 30th 2026:
I have a suggestion I want to make. I am approaching you in the hopes you'd add momentum to it. This is for all the inpatient wards and not just the orthopaedic ward.
I was assigned a bed in the boardroom late afternoon on April 29th 2026 until my discharge on April 30th 2026. It has finally dawned on me what is missing when non transitional spaces are used for patient care: It is the opportunity to view the world around me. Saying this another way: It is the ability to see outside, enjoy nature and how peaceful this is in the midst of recovery from surgery. I live in Belleville Ontario. I can't tell you the number of times I've used my power wheelchair to go down to the waterfront trails in the midst of my medical treatment. It brings some joy into my life.
Before I tell you my suggestion I first want to acknowledge my patient care was consistent regardless of the physical space where I was located. My input is solely focused on making the best of a hospital that has outgrown it's designed patient limit.
I just did a simple search. The City of Kingston has various webcams that live stream key locations in Kingston. A few of these are very scenic. I would like to put forward the suggestion that a simple poster is displayed that shares the link with wording that offers this to patients who really enjoy nature. My secondary suggestion is making your ward staff aware of this. Then if someone starts pushing back they can give this as an option to help a patient adjust to being in a non transition treatment space. This is the link from the City of Kingston website.
Thank you very much for hearing me out.
