Knee Replacement Incision Check Up
[ Monday June 15th 2026 at 12:03 pm ]

I have more really great news to share about my right knee replacement. As I slept Sunday evening into Monday morning my incision finally closed.

I'd been worried about this for the past 6 weeks. My incision was infected twice during this time. The culprit was a dissolving stitch left inside me during the surgery that simply never dissolved. Inside me my immune system encased it meaning it would never be able to dissolve.

My body pushed the encased stitch into my incision causing the infections. When I removed the pus from my incision on Saturday evening I popped it out by accident. At the time I had no idea what it was or why. I took a photo and made another appointment with my family doctor.

I showed the photo to my family doctor. Getting that dissolving stitch out of my body was exactly what I needed to happen. I am finally on track for using the warm water therapy pool in July 2026.

I see my surgeon July 2nd. Presumably as long as my incision keeps heals he'll okay me to start using the warm water therapy pool. The city where I live has a fitness center. They use Stats Canada cost of living guidance to offer a subsidy for their facility usage. The use of the warm water therapy pool will cost me $15 a month.
