Phone Appointment With My Surgeon

I just finished a phone appointment with my surgeon. This was suppose to happen a week ago. Some how I managed to turn the ringer off my cell phone without realizing it. I sent a brief e-mail to apologize to my surgeon. I was able to say this to him directly. There are times when I think my cell phone should come with a teen to assist me in using it. I made my surgeon laugh when I said this.
The goal of this phone appointment was to decide the next step with my seroma treatment. My surgeon wanted to talk to me because it is extremely unusual for a seroma to remain active for this long. He wanted to know that I was confident this still exists and hadn't dried up. The plan is to send me for updated ultrasound imaging to confirm it still exists. I am feeling my incision opening and the seroma draining. They will find it. I am confident it will be seen. Once they have confirmation my surgeon will then send a requisition for it to be drained.
I am not offended by this approach. We need a method to objectively compare if my seroma is getting better or worse over time. If I get into the extremely improbable odds and it remains after being drained this methodical approach will prove helpful. I like that my surgeon is thorough. I am as well in matters related to my health care. But periodically I wish we could just cut to the chase.
